For those few faithful followers who have been here since day one, you know of my love/hate relationship with Wal-Mart. Today after introducing a friend to the wonders of Dairy Queen, I had to go to Wal-Mart.
It was 3:00 p.m. so I had thought it would not be too bad, and comparing to most of the issues with Wal-Mart it technically wasn't that bad. The problem today was different. It was "Bring Your Screaming Child To Wal-Mart" day!
Let me tell you, I have found a cure for that baby itch mentioned a couple posts back! There were screaming children everywhere in that Wal-Mart. It was so bad I even gave one mom the "your child is a brat" evil eye look and at another time randomly said out loud "Somebody please shut that kid up!" which could have been applied in multiple areas of the store at that moment. Needless to say I have no desire at the moment for children. Ha!
On a completely different note, I walked seven miles today. Back around St. Patty's Day, I was helping with a program called Scaleback Alabama in their last week. It was a program that start in January and ended in March statewide that was basically a weight loss program. The results and such that I saw really inspired me to get healthy again. So since St. Patty's Day, I have been counting calories and exercising more.
I have a great neighborhood for walking and so have been walking the neighborhood which is somewhat a circle but the route I take is about 2 miles in total. Today I decided I had more energy than usual so pushed further and went beyond my neighborhood. It was great!
I want to train for a 5k and then maybe someday a 1/2 marathon. We shall see. I am noticing though I might need to buy a treadmill, rain has been causing me problems lately, and will again tomorrow! Ugh!
For now though I am ready to snuggle into my covers and sleep!
Until next time....

Several comments for this post.
1. Hating Wal-mart. I hate it for a myriad of reasons. The rudeness of the other shoppers, the disinterest of the employees, the annoying lack of parking within a 50 mile radius, the lack of selection, the empty shelves in spite of the constant flurry of freight being loaded into these shelves. I could go on for days. I hate Wal-mart.
2. Walking - one of these days, the rain is going to go away and you and are going to be able to start our twice weekly walks! I really want to try that 5 mile trek you mentioned to me on Friday. And I want to purchase an elliptical. I can only do five minutes now, but if I had one, I would be able to build up and do more!
3. I really want to do the Race for the Cure this year.
4. INTRODUCE someone to DQ? You mean, they had never been? CRAZINESS!!!!!
