Buying a Washing Machine and Dryer

Who would have thought that something as simple as a washer and dryer would be so dang hard to buy?

I am finding in my new experience as a "New Appliance Buyer" that this is not something that is very easy.

One would think it would go something like this:

Imp walks into appliance area of some store. Imp points to the refrigerator, washer, and dryer that looks like all four hundred others lined up and says "I will take those." Imp pays for them and goes home to await delivery.

But is it that easy? NO!!!!

With the refrigerator it was:

What size? What color? Double door or single? Upside down or conventional? Icemaker or no? Internet connection or no? Live hamsters to turn the wheel and keep the freezer at the perfect temperature or the kryptonite special that works better than the hamsters?!?

It was enough to make one curl up on the floor in the fetal position, sucking their thumb and saying No more! No More!

I just want a refrigerator that fits in the hole I have to put it in and cools my food! How hard should that be?!?

We finally solved that riddle after many a headache but now we are on to another escapade that one would think should be easy....buying a washer and dryer.

It should be simple:

A washer that washes clothes (what a novel idea)
and a dryer that dries those washed clothes (ohh we have hit upon something here!)

But NO! it has to be the same thing we went through with the stupid refrigerator.

Washer with fifteen cycles or three? Washer with big capacity, somewhat larger capacity, or fit three small children capacity? Dryer with multiple cycles? dryer with steam? dryer with internet connection?

Where is "Buying Appliances for Dummies" when you need it! I know how to use my computer I just don't know how to get a simple washing machine!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

the only thing worse than picking one out is having to pay for it, just think what good stuff you could get with that money--i mean food and stuff......the only thing worse is buying tires-lol

Let me give you some advice on this since my washer kicked the bucket Friday and I had to go out and buy one on Saturday. One of the best washers that I have ever owned is a Roper. They are made by Whirlpool and I had a set for ten years and the day we sold them they were still washing and drying like new. They were a basic model, without all the bells and whistles, and they washed my clothes better than anything else I have owned.

Now my previous washer that just died had all the bells and whistles and the panel on it was push button, the darn thing looked like the Star Trek ship Enterprise! It was a lot more expensive and I didn't like it as well as my plain Roper. With my Roper there wasn't a stain I couldn't get out, with the loaded one the stains didn't come out as good.

So last Saturday I bought another Roper. It has 8 cycles, 3 water temps, and 4 load sizes and I LOVE it! The other good thing is that I have a lot of money left in my wallet after making this purchase and I am not walking around feeling raped for paying an outrageous price. My dryer is dying so we will purchase it in the next few weeks.

Good luck!

if you want more info on the washer or one similar to it just email me @ eazybreazy@gmail.com and I will tell you all about it.
