Totally Terrific Tuesday: Trix!

I love Tuesdays. Tuesdays are wonderful. I have decided this week I am going to talk about a T word for Tuesday and that is Trix, the cereal. This is actually a somewhat rehash of one of my very first posts, number 2 or 3 but since it has been over a year since it was posted and most of you haven't read it I feel safe in revising and rehashing. Parts of it are definitely new!

It all started last night at...Walmart! For any of those who have read me since 2005 know that some of my best adventures are in Walmart. Sad in a small way but yet it does make the trips to the place exciting.
So last night after rehearsal (which went well btw, will have pics and such later) I had to go to Walmart because I needed....toilet paper. Now as I have stated before, going to Walmart after 11pm is the best time to go because
1.) they are restocking,
2.) less annoying people
3.) really cool weird people
4.) less annoying people
5.) better parking

Did you know they play music in Walmart and not just at Christmas time?? Yes see if you didn't know that then you have never gone at the proper times because it means you weren't able to hear from all the racket the annoying people make!

Tangent!

Sorry, back to the story.
So I was tootling along picking somethings up that I needed along with my toilet paper when I saw the box.
Now you have to understand I am not a big cereal eater for three reasons:
1.) I was allergic to milk as a child, still kinda am
2.) I can't get out of bed in time to eat breakfast at home
3.) It is so dang expensive!!

But Trix!
Trix was the one cereal next to Honeysmacks that The Mom would let us have as children. Its' sugary, fruity flavor was ok without milk and I loved to snack on the stuff.
So last night it gave me pause and then the little smiley caught my attention as he waved his zorro sword slashing prices and I noticed....$1.98! Whoo hoo! Trix was on sale baby! Into the cart it went!

So now as I sit here at my desk snacking on Trix for breakfast and anticipating a sugar high, I ponder what to write about for Totally Terrific Tuesday and ....

*choir music*

Apostrophy!

oh wait umm

Epiphany!

I shall write about Trix and that stupid rabbit! What is the deal with Trix the Rabbit? For those who haven't grown up with this commercial, it is a cereal commercial that has a white cartoon rabbit who for as long as I can remember has been trying to get some Trix cereal and has now even digressed to trying to get Trix yogurt (which I think looks disgusting) Alas he is always stopped by a gaggle of children saying "Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids" cue laughter. Haha.....it is not funny!

That poor rabbit has been chasing Trix for a better part of two decades, possibly more and has yet to get any! Why are those children being so mean and taunting? Makes me think of when I was in school and the taller children (which would have been everybody) would hold something above my head and taunt me. I feel some sympathy for that Rabbit but at the same time I want to say "Get a life and a backbone!" to him. If you are so smart to think of all the schemes he has been through in the commercials to get the Trix, go to the store and buy some!

And don't even get me started on the social implications of the taunting children!

I think that someone on the Trix's marketing team should come up with a series of Trix commercials where the rabbit eventually gets some Trix! I mean talk about celebration! It would make me want to buy some Trix! I think people who grew up watching that rabbit tormented again and again would celebrate too! Hmm maybe this is why this Imp is not in marketing.

Quit feeling sorry for the wabbit!
In a 2005 interview the Trix rabbit spoke from his summer home overlooking the pacific ocean in sunny Southern California.
Surrounded by a bevy of playmates dressed in lowcut bunny outfits the trix rabbit drank heavily, often slurring his words during the interview.
He spoke of being stereotyped and not being taken serious as an actor.
He had been turned down for the role of Roger Rabbit because producers felt he was too commercial for the role.
His networth is reported to be in the millions.

Enjoy your Trix and this:

Did the high fructose kick in yet?

Looks like someone got switched to the New Blogger and most people reverted to Anonymous.

Topcat, I didn't comment on this post yet. I commented on yesterday's but Imp paid no attention to me, so I may as well have been Anonymous! ;)

dan..all good things come to those who wait.
I do cast quite a large shadow and she may not have seen you in the dark.

Melodie Norman Haas said...

Actually Dan,

I did see you and I did reply to your comment on my writing blog. I did not reply to the comment on yesterdays post because I didn't think people went back to the day before's comments to see if the person replied. Anyway LOL now I see you and have seen you and thank you so much for coming by, do not let the arrogant Topcat talk about shadowing you out. Cats can be quite arrogant ya know! ;)

Why is your desk all cluttered with candy bar wrappers and leftover Trix?(yeah right, like there were some left over.)

Melodie Norman Haas said...

Ohhh hardy har har ;) Of course there weren't leftovers! My mother taught me to eat everything, don't waste food, there are starving children in Africa who would love to have it!

Anonymous said...

Yes Yes..the children in Africa need more Trix..lol
Hope you have a great morning, see ya around.

HA HA! Topcat is a great guy ... er ... cat. He doesn't cast a large shadow at all -- except when his tail is puffed and erect (the tail! the tail!)

Ameratis. I was teasing you! Hugs and kisses. :)
