Da Count: Appreciation

Appreciation is something that unfortunately is lacking in our society these days. So it seems to stick out and shine when it is given. It boosts the confidence and makes people smile.

Appreciation is not just a form of manner but it is a genuine display of emotion that can transform anyone's mood in all measures of degree. From the smallest hand to shoulder accompanied with a smile to a full blown hug and tears, appreciation is something that you can feel even on the outside of the circle.

When I watch television and I see these "makeovers" and such, you can tell when the person is truely appreciative of the situation, it comes across even the television.
Appreciation is also the type of emotion that can be easily read when false. Appreciation is one of those emotions that is so raw and overwhelming it is not easily replicated in a believable false manner.

In this sense I was truly appreciative of the appreciative letter sent to my boss from someone I helped last week:

( I changed the names to protect the innocent and blah blah blah)
Imp's Boss,

My name is Mr. Nice Man with That Company Services and we've been a
YourCompany customer for over 10 years. Recently, I had some interaction with
one of your associates, The Imp, and I want to pass along some
positive feedback.

I had a question on our recent maintenance invoice and was
directed to the YourCompany Accounting area where I left a voice mail message.
The Imp got back to me the very next day and was able to quickly find the
error and correct the problem on my invoice. In the process, she was very
respectful, friendly and customer focused. In short, she made me feel
like a "valued customer". I really appreciate the service she provided me
and the manner in which she provided it just wanted to let you know!

Mr. Very Nice Man
Manager, MyCompany Plan Technologies
That Company Services,
A Business Unit of This Other Company

I actually was forwarded this by the Boss himself with a "good job" on Monday...talk about a way to make black, boring Monday wonderful! I had a grin on my face for the rest of the day. I did not do anything extraordinary in my opinion with this customer but still the fact that he took time out of his busy schedule to write my boss and say such nice things makes me want to sing :)

To whom can you show appreciation today?
