Comfort

This is abit of a follow up from my last post. After the terrifying thoughts that bantered through my brain about children I was reminded of a very important fact. God is in Control. Though it is a scary sight to think of the future and of raising children, God gives his assurance to always be there for us. One thought that comes immediately to mind is the verse many of us know too well "Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and light unto my path." Psalm119:105 And if we ponder that abit deeper than we did as children we come to think of lamps or what we would use: flashlights. If you think about a flashlight in the dark, it concentrates best right around you, allowing you to see your next few steps but it is not always easiest to see exactly what is farther ahead of you, the light illuminates that the path is there but not necessarily exactly what is ahead on the path. You still feel confident that you will be able to stay on the path though because you have the light to show you the way and reveal obstacles.
In this same way Jesus' is our lamp and if we let him, he will guide us and illuminate our path, of course he illuminates only a few steps at a time according to his plan, but we can still see the path ahead because his light through scripture gives us hope of the future though we cannot see details. This is such a comforting thought to me, that though it may be scary to think of the future , like walking through dark woods, knowing I have the light of Jesus' to guide me give confidence to take the next step. He will guide me in everything, including in the raising of my future children.
May He shine his light on you and may you bask in the glory of his light.

"Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall." Psalm55:22

"I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you." Psalm 32:8

"When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.' " John 8:12

"I will lead the blind by ways they have not known; along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them. " I saiah 42:16

Mel,
Beautiful illuminating post....This is what God has been teaching me the past few weeks...a few steps is all we need to see because you're right, we do have the hope and faith that in the end we have a bright future illuminated by His love and grace.
