Mr. Nephew

This morning I got up way too early for a no-children person and headed to Mr. Nephew's school to see him play basketball. I am actually very excited that he is playing basketball because I like basketball and I think he has the potential to be a really good player.

It was a lot of fun to go and watch. Those little boys try hard and do a great job for someone who is still learning even while having to play. They had people yelling at them from all directions, not in a mean fashion but just in a coaching fashion. The actual coach is reminding them of defense or offense, parents are yelling notes or encouragement, and the referee is making calls. It was very confusing at times for me just sitting there so I am sure it was confusing for them. Even though, they played with great spirit and despite our team not winning there was no pouting.

Mr. Nephew was very good at defense! He got all up in those opposing team's way so they couldn't pass or shoot. He did well keeping his arms up and trying to block but without fouling. I will admit he needs a little work on his offense but who doesn't, right? He is eight, he has plenty of time to become a basketball superstar :) I am so proud of him!
