Add To The Beauty

We come with beautiful secrets
We come with purposes written on our hearts, written on our souls
We come to every new morning
With possibilities only we can hold, that only we can hold

And I want to add to the beauty
To tell a better story
I want to shine with the light
That's burning up inside

It comes in small inspirations
It brings redemption to life and work
To our lives and our work

It comes in loving community
It comes in helping a soul find it's worth

Redemption comes in strange places, small spaces
Calling out the best of who we are
This is grace, an invitation to be beautiful
This is grace, an invitation

-- Lyrics by Sara Groves, Add to the Beauty album

In a world that can be so grey and dark at times it is with great enthusiasm that brightness and beauty is embraced. The euphoric feeling of being embraced in such warmth that not only includes yourself but others surpasses anything tangible on this earth. I heard a quote this weekend that intrigued me, it said "We believe in love because it is the closest thing we have to magic." If taken in the lighthearted manner in which the quote was given then it is actually a charming portayal of love.

I do not speak just of "romantic" love but love as a whole. The connection between humans that is unique to us above all other creatures on the planet. The soft love of a child as it snuggles close in a dependent embrace to its parent. The smile of friends that emanates a love for the other in a way that shows that they truly care. The smile of a stranger to a passer-by just to denote that they recognize a fellow human and have the time to truly notice that person and bestow a smile. The love that can swell into an overwhelming amount and overshadow the dark and grey. It makes the sun shine brighter, the grass seem greener, the sky seem the brightest blue ever. It makes smiling easy and the step lighter.

The acknowledgement that we are all equally beautiful and precious in our own way and that we have the tremendous honor and responsibility to recognize this in others and make verbal note of it. That adds to the beauty!
